The ×îÉ«µ¼º½ Health Service was formed in July 1985, initially with three clinics, at Blackstone, Jameson and Warakurna and now has over 9 clinics. It operates under dedicated funding agreements that recognise the principles of community control and responsibility for staff and resources within a precise legislative framework. Community based health staff providing full-time primary health care at community health clinics have proved most effective in raising community health standards. This is delivered through a multidisciplinary approach incorporating P.H.C., Public Health Programs and Health Promotion Activities.
The administration and management of ×îÉ«µ¼º½ Health Services is undertaken from Alice Springs; administrative, finance, information technology, health program support and patient liaison officers are situated next to the ×îÉ«µ¼º½ Council Offices in Alice Springs. Coordination and management of all clinical services, aged care and HACC programmes on the lands are undertaken by the Lands based Clinical Services Coordinator. A public health coordinator ensures collaboration of all upstream health promotion and public health programs.
